Movie time is here!

5th-grade students got to learn firsthand what all parents are struggling with at this time of the year.... taxes. In Mrs. Pape's class, the students were given M&M's and throughout the day staff came in to collect unfair taxes on the colonists (The Students). Some students chose to boycott this unfair taxation. In Mrs. Richmond's Room, the students filled out a W2 for their classroom jobs and guessed how much to take out for taxes(Like we all do haha). Then they filled out a 1040 tax form and learned how their guess paid out. Students were even given fake Social Security Cards. Safe to say Cerbat 5th grade doesn't like tax time just as much as the rest of us!

Dear KUSD 5th Grade Families,
Last Thursday, we presented information to your child’s class about the Cambridge Program.
This is an exciting opportunity available to your child at Kingman Middle School and
White Cliffs Middle School.
What is the Cambridge Program?
The Cambridge Program is an application-based program that provides your child with a
world-class educational experience in a rural community. The Cambridge curriculum is
sponsored by Cambridge University in England, is research-based, and embeds the
skills and knowledge that the modern, ever-changing workforce needs. Students
learn skills such as analyzing information, critical thinking, research, problem-solving
and collaboration through an active learning model. This program is an accelerated
program of study, but students do not have to have been in accelerated classes in
elementary school to participate. Students who apply and are granted acceptance to the
Cambridge programs are still students at each middle school. They will have the same
enrichment opportunities, clubs, and athletics available to them. The only difference will
be that they will have a Cambridge class for each core subject: math, English, science,
and history.
Would you like more information regarding this exciting opportunity?
Cambridge Middle School Showcases
● Tuesday, February 11, 2025 5:30-6:30
● Locations: Kingman Middle School and White Cliffs Middle School
How does my child apply for the Cambridge Middle School Program?
● Your child received a paper application today at school. They may fill this
application out and turn it in to their 5th-grade teacher.
● Your child may complete an electronic application if they prefer to type it. Here is
the link: https://forms.gle/wrBTkoJF6Uq5SdMU8
Applications will be scored based on a rubric and numbering system in the order
received. Due to limited space in the program, students will be ranked by the scoring of
questions, behavior, G.P.A, and benchmark testing. If a tie-in ranking occurs and the
program becomes full, the tie will go to the student who has their application in first.
Students will be notified via mail of their status after May 1. It is suggested to turn in
applications on or before March 27 for the first round of acceptance letters.
***Students who are currently enrolled in KUSD must apply to the Cambridge program
prior to August 1. No applications will be accepted after this date for in-district students.
Students who are new to KUSD may apply at any time during the school year upon
enrollment.
